Antioxidants improve Ageing

September 9, 2024

New Title

Have you ever run out of bed in the morning?

When your blood gets cleaned up, most likely you will be running out of bed with less achiness and much more energy. Oxidation in the body slows us down and is equal to having rust in our pipes, so to speak.

Free Radicals- What are they and where do they come from?

Free radicals hang out in the blood and are created when there is oxidation in the system. Oxidation can come from heavy metals, bad fats, and environmental toxins.

Fried food example:  oils that are heated  past the melting point create free radicals that are not broken down easily by the body and are stored in the tissues and circulate in the blood.

Trans fats are an example. Trans fats have such a high melting point that the body can not digest them and they are stored in the tissue. It becomes obvious as intra abdominal fat and cellulite as well as poor heart health.

Trans fats and free radicals interfere with the essential fat absorption which feeds the heart. Trans fats compete with the heart's receptors and block the good fat which is fuel for the heart. A lifetime of eating  processed foods with trans fats creates a weak nutritionally starved heart.

Toxins and heavy metals from food, air, and the environment accumulate. The great news is that at RELAX HOLISTIC  we can help you  DETOX and cleanse the body with special detoxifying herbs and supplements  that we recommend based on a Symptom Survey Form.

It is important to become aware of what goes into your body and the effects over the long run.

Here are some tips to start the cleansing and improve circulation.

  • Exercise everyday. The body needs increased oxygen consumption with increase full inhalation and exhalation for lung and heart health;
  •  The only pump for the lymphatic system are the contraction of calve muscles during walking or exercise. The lymphatic system is part of the immune system that is responsible in part for creating T and B-cells against bacterial infections.  Exercising on a daily basis keeps the lymphatic system pumping and moving.  When the lymph stagnates and is not renewed, illness and reduced immunity occur because of the free radicals.
  • Take antioxidants daily, Vitamins A, C, E, grapefruit seed extract, zinc, are a few. Eat dark berries and dark leafy greens.
  • Eat high polyphenol antioxidant foods:  dark chocolate, dark berries, olives, pecans, plums, prunes, tomatoes, walnuts, raisins, spinach, kale,
  • Antioxidants  are important as we age so we need to supplement in some way Polyphenols examples are cloves, peppermint, star anise, cocoa powder, celery seed, green tea, black tea, coffee and flax seeds,
  • Eat good fats. Polyunsaturated are best. Omega 6 and 9. These are fuel for the heart.
  • Cleanse your colon and organ tissues including liver, gallbladder,  intestine, pancreas, spleen, lungs. heart  every 6 months with Blessedherbs.com. I recommend an herbal  21 day detox followed by a 7 day colon cleanse  twice a year.
  • DO NOT eat ice cream or sugar before bed as it will create sluggishness and inability to run out of bed in the morning..

At Relax Holistic, we have been serving the West Hollywood community for over 25 years, offering expert acupuncture, chiropractic care, and massage therapy. Acupuncture is an ancient healing practice that has stood the test of time, helping people restore balance and enhance their well-being. But what exactly is acupuncture, and how can it benefit you? What is Acupuncture and How Does it Work? Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) technique that involves the insertion of ultra-fine needles into specific points on the body. These points correspond to meridians—pathways through which energy, or Qi (pronounced "chee"), flows. When Qi is blocked, it can lead to discomfort, stress, and illness. Acupuncture stimulates these points, promoting the free flow of energy, reducing inflammation, and triggering the body's natural healing response. Who Can Benefit from Acupuncture? Acupuncture is for everyone, whether you're looking to maintain overall wellness or address specific health concerns. Many people seek acupuncture for relief from conditions such as: Pain Management – Chronic pain, migraines, arthritis, back pain, and sports injuries. Mental Health – Anxiety, depression, stress, and insomnia. Digestive Issues – IBS, bloating, acid reflux, and other gastrointestinal concerns. Immune Support – Strengthening the body’s defense system against seasonal illnesses. Women’s Health & Fertility – Hormonal balance, menstrual irregularities, and pregnancy support. There is No Magic Pill for Health—Wellness is a Process Too often, people seek health solutions only after symptoms appear. However, true wellness is not achieved through a quick fix—it is a journey. Acupuncture is not just for treating ailments; it is a proactive approach to maintaining balance and preventing disease. Many of our long-term clients incorporate acupuncture into their regular self-care routines, much like exercise and healthy eating, to support their overall vitality. Preventative Care: The Key to Lifelong Health Acupuncture is a powerful tool for preventative care. Regular monthly sessions, even when you feel fine, help keep your energy balanced and your body functioning optimally. Just as you don’t wait for your car engine to break down before getting an oil change, you shouldn’t wait until illness strikes before taking care of your health. Examples of Preventative Acupuncture Benefits: A busy professional receives acupuncture to manage stress and prevent burnout. A frequent traveler uses acupuncture to strengthen their immune system and avoid getting sick. An athlete incorporates acupuncture into their routine to prevent injuries and improve performance. Understanding Insomnia Treating Insomnia starts with balancing your Yin and Yang. Sleeping is Yin and waking is Yang. You have to do physical or mental Yang activity to become tired. To feel sleepy you need to be active during the day. There may be blockages in the meridians that affect sleep. Insomnia can also involve waking up frequently during the night, waking up too early, or feeling unrefreshed after sleep. Over time, this can take a toll on both physical and mental health. Things that can inhibit sleep are eating too close to bedtime, sleep apnea, caffeine after 3PM or overthinking. Our bodies are not designed to sleep in the daytime. How Acupuncture Works The acupuncturist will will check the body with a Traditional Chinese pulse and tongue diagnosis. Fine needles are inserted into specific points on the body to balance the flow of Chi. This will restore balance in the energetic channels of the body, called Meridians. Treatments improve overall well-being. Benefits of balancing the meridian pathways One of the primary goals of acupuncture is to balance the body's energy. When qi is flowing smoothly, it can help regulate sleep patterns and promote a more restful night. Reducing Stress and Anxiety : Many insomnia sufferers have stress or anxiety. Acupuncture is known to reduce stress hormones and promote a sense of calm. Regulating Sleep Hormones : Acupuncture can influence the production of melatonin, the hormone responsible for regulating sleep. Studies have shown that acupuncture has increased night-time melatonin levels, helping improve sleep quality. Alleviating Pain : Needles inserted in pain points promote endorphin release, and makes it easier to fall and stay asleep. Combining Acupuncture with Lifestyle Changes Stick to a Sleep Schedule : Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day. Create a Relaxing Bedtime Routine : Engage in calming activities like reading or taking a warm bath before bed. Limit Caffeine after 3PM and Alcohol : Exercise Regularly : Physical activity promotes better sleep Patient Testimonial- "I struggled with insomnia for years, trying every remedy and medication without much success. Acupuncture turned out to be a game-changer. After just a few sessions, I noticed a significant improvement in my sleep patterns. The needles didn't just help me sleep—they addressed the root causes of my insomnia. The anxiety that kept me awake at night began to melt away, and I felt more balanced overall. I highly recommend acupuncture to anyone dealing with sleep issues. It truly made a world of difference for me." If you have any questions , Book a Consultation. 310-652-3200 www.wehowellness.org
